Kasese United Humanist Association Library has received a mega donation of text books, magazines and journals from Books Abroad Organization based in the UK.

The donated books covers a range of subjects ranging from fiction books, children books, Geography, Home economics, History, Science, Maths and free thought content literature. About 26 boxes full of literature was received by the school director who had to collect the consignment on 4th.October in Kampala from the Uganda National Library Association offices on Buganda road in Kampala.

Kasese United Humanist Association is a community library stocking a variety of readable materials which are accessed freely to the general public and is entirely run and managed by Kasese United Humanist Association.

Kasese United Humanist Association Library was assigned a task by Books Abroad UK to deliver a number of donated books to other 2 schools based in Kasese namely Rwenzori Vocational Institute and Fair Earth Foundation which runs an orphanage.

As Kasese United Humanist Association runs a school project, extra books fit for the children were passed over to the school to assist the children in acting as reference and learning materials .

Both KUHA and KHPS are so happy to receive this book donation  and many thanks to BOOKS ABROAD ORGANIZATION for supporting us. We are confident that these books will widen the knowledge of the Ugandan people in our efforts of fighting the battle of poverty, ignorance, disease and the high levels of belief in magic and superstition.

Chicken coop construction at KHPS

Posted by Bwambale Robert on July 14, 2012 at 4:25 PM Comments comments (1)

The Godless Poutine,a friend of Kasese Humanist Primary School has launched the Chicken Project which is going to be in two phases namely Phase 1 and Phase 2.

Phase 1 which has been launched today 14th July 2012 involves initial preparations to construct a chicken coop at the school and a fundraiser campaign has started. Construction exercise is scheduled to commence after September 1st upon funds availability. A total of $1200 is needed to put in place a chicken coop that is likely to accomodate a sizeable number chicken to provide eggs to children at Kasese Humanist Primary School.

Phase 2 will straight away commence upon completion of the chicken coop and this is going to be after Septermber 1st this year.

As the school totally embrace reason and skeptical minds, a better nutrition is very necessary and we can try achieve this by giving an egg or two to our children and the staffs at the school during breakfast time. It should be noted with concern that at the school we have high cases of malnourishment as we mostly serve corn meal porridge as breakfast but with no accompaniments, when it comes to lunch time in most cases we serve corn meal (Posho) and beans, once in a while meat with cassava flour, potatoes with some greens.

The chicken project will also allow our children to learn new methods of rearing chicken and poultry farming. We shall have broken the record here where people think that education takes only in the classroom.

This project will act as a demonstration to people in our community to acquire new technologies of how a farmer can carry on a meaningful venture utilising a small piece of land space for an activity that can pay if done correctly.

The project will offer extra income to the school from the sale of excess eggs which funds will assist the school in meeting some of its other financial needs and other school commitments.

The Godless Poutine, a long time friend of the school has set in place a fundraiser to mobilise funds to construct the chicken coup and to equip, run the chicken project at KHPS. I am encouraging friends and well wishers of Kasese Humanist Primary School to donate generously to this cause, any amount donated is very beneficial in creating change.
